Name: Victoria "The Impaler" Singer
Age: 26
Race:Human
Zone of Birth: A caravan running one of the Cardinal Holdings - Czarina Tropical Agriculture routes.
Class: InvestigatorOutlaw
Current Employment Alignment: Freelancer (Rebel Leaning)
Description: This intersex dark stalker is powerfully built, with several augmentic adaptations including a crude but serviceable prosthetic leg, a set of cybernetic eyes and ear enhancements, and a few holdout weapons built into her person. She has long, brown black hair, which she allows to flow freely, and tends to wear a long coat, heavy gloves and boots, and carry a pistol and rapier. She only removes this gear when inside of her own hideout, and even when she is indulging herself in the few brothels catering to humans rather than artificiates in Schwebenwagen Heavy Industries' undercities, she tends to remain as clothed as possible.
Personality: Victoria is driven by a burning need to make sure that what happened to her family, and consistently happens to the living residents of Schwebenwagen Heavy Industries, never happens again, or at the very least, when it does, it is avenged. While on the job she is cold and dedicated, focused on the job and nothing else. It is important to note that Victoria does not blame the corporate system as a whole, or even executives within it, she has a grudge against netsuckers in general and Samen Von Würstchen in particular. Such jobs are few and far between, and to pay the bills she's more than willing to take on jobs even from Schwebenwagen Heavy Industries itself, let alone other corporations. Despite the rage she holds against netsuckers and beastkin, in cases where she believes that someone can be turned into an asset, rather than a threat, she's willing to skip on the payout of a job in order to secure a new contact in her quest to take down Von Würstchen.
Abilities: Victoria is highly skilled in tracking, security bypass, and is proficient in a fight with both pistol and saber, though she much prefers her fights to be as unfair as possible. She has also built an information network from both the people she has helped in the past, and the foes she's converted to being her allies. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the various foes that lurk beneath the dark smog of Schwebenwagen Heavy Industries' skies, and uses that knowledge ruthlessly to her advantage, both in securing contracts, and in taking down her targets.
Relationships:
Vanessa von Schwanzreiter - When Victoria was approaching full womanhood, but still a lowly urchin, she found, in the depth of the undercity, a wrecked structure, and deeper inside of it, an old computer terminal. Thinking she might strike it rich, she dug into the data within, miraculously still intact, and found the transcribed records and journals of one Vanessa von Schwanzreiter. They claimed that she had once been a monster hunter for the Roman Catholic Church, and Victoria was instantly enamored. It wouldn't be until years later that she understood ALL of the texts, but those she did understand set her on the path of becoming a Dark Stalker, and gave her the basic skills and lessons she needed to apprentice under a proper dark stalker adventurer. Since then she has always credited that ancient monster hunter as her first mentor.
Hunter Unit XJ-8345.2 - The Outlaw that Victoria apprenticed under, a mutant hunter who operated primarily out of Schwebenwagen, even if he operated in the outlying territories. His work in the toxic sump dumps of the grand industrial towers, and in the bunkers, made him a common appearance in the shanty towns of flesh-bags at the bases of towers, finding information on mutants to bring in for bounties, which was how Victoria met him once she came fully of age. Having impressed him with the skills she had picked up from ancient books, he agreed to take her under his wing. They would later have a falling out that nearly ended with the death of both of them.
Samen Von Würstchen - The man she blames for the death of her original family, and the suffering of her adoptive one. Everything she does, which isn't related to survival, is bent towards the end of getting closer to the CEO of the entire territory and taking him down.
Important Life Moments:
Victoria Singer was born on one of the many caravans that run the routes across All-Gobi, ferrying goods and services across the charging stations and townships that dot the areas between megacities, occasionally dropping resources off at Titan warehouses, or dealing in made goods at charging-stations, until they made the big payoffs between the various consumer goods in Cardinal Holdings, and the vast food and pharmaceutical products of Czarina Tropical Agriculture. Always, they avoided anything but the edges of Schwebenwagen Hover Industries territory, not just because the smoggy haze blocking the sun made it all the harder for their caravan to maintain motion, but because of how dangerous the massive hacked robotic population, beastkin, and netsuckers made it.
Eventually, they were forced to travel into those lands, during the Jerboan Breakknuckle Conflicts between Von Würstchen and the Jerboan desert gangs that eventually ended with the biker-warlord Crud Breakknuckle gripping the entire western All-Gobi trade network in his scarred fist. But at the time, people had to live, and the master of Singer's caravan decided that rather than risking being raided by Jerboans on the desert route, they would risk the Schwebenwagen route. Knowing that the Jerboans were smashing the outer reaches of the territory to the south, he changed their route to head much deeper, taking the coastal route, where tidal-electric stations made it possible to traverse cheaply.
Things seemed to be going well, the caravan was able to protect itself, the toxic atmosphere wasn't so bad that their duster-filters couldn't handle the worst of it, and the few places that opened their doors to the caravan were more than welcoming to see fellow, nonmechanical, faces.
Their luck ran out in the data-bypass focused settlement "Datahaven 39", the junction of the internet between Schwebenwagen Heavy Industries and Euphori-Tank Online Data Farms. The dark months were beginning, and every fortified town hunkering in the lee of the factory complexes and datacenter cooling towers refused them entry, so they bunkered down on the walls of one. A group of raving netsuckers, high on drugs and driving a pack of beastkin before the throbbing dubz of their music attacked that night. The Township that had closed its doors held them shut until it was all but too late, only opening them at the last possible moment there was anything that COULD be done, waiting far too long to save everyone. In the end, the caravan was reduced to a wreck, most of its people drained, only the people who had been huddled closest to the walls, the infirmed, the young, the elderly, and not all of them, survived the night.
Victoria Singer was among these people, though she lost a leg that night. She was taken in by an elderly couple who raised her as best they knew how, and were able to do so from salvaging the wreckage of the caravan like the rest of the townsfolk (some of the funds went to the township in general, paying fees and services to the horrible Von Würstchen), the remainder was split between the families that took in the survivors, and the families that lost someone attempting that too-little-too-late rescue attempt. Victoria would never forget both the kindness, and the cowardice of the people of that town, and swore she would never be like them. HER kindness would not be tempered by fear. She would be a fierce, terrible thing to the beings that had killed the family that had raised her, and so, she set out to learn more about them. To watch the hacked and the robots and the beastkin, and even the netsuckers when she could sneak into the higher levels of the great spire. In time, she would learn from her observations, and from the mentors she took on in the meantime, to become one of the most feared, and strangely beloved, Dark Stalkers in Schwebenwagen.
