The Elf Races

In an effort to maintain their nepotistic control over the New World,
corporations bankrolled the Extension of Life Functions program, a gene-editing project dedicated to keeping
corporate directors, board members and vital employees alive for as long as possible, maintaining the status
quo indefinitely. Executive Elfs are the direct descendants of the original board members that bankrolled
the project, while Street Elfs are the result of Elfs breeding with humans. Undercity Elfs were bred
to thrive in and maintain the interconnected underground datacenters under the megacities, and few
ever make it up to the surface.
Roleplaying an Elf:
Your lineage determines a lot about how you ended up needing to become an
adventurer. What caused your Executive Elf to fall so far from the luxury and wealth of their ancestors?
Which director mated with a human to create your Street Elf? Why has your Undercity Elf made it up to the
surface?
No matter the reason, an adventuring Elf is rarely a happy Elf, and overtones of
haughty disdain lace every word out of their mouths.
Elf Naming Conventions:
- Executive Elfs, being the descendants of the upper crust
of Old World society, tend to have very exuberant and fanciful family names. Street Elfs have lost touch
with this tradition somewhat, and have simpler human first names to reflect that, but retain their
societal family names. Undercity Elfs, being manufactured to serve in megacity datacenters, often only
have first names.
- Executive Elf names include: Allegra Dankworth, Quincy
Eastaughffe, Roderick Bisciotti, Arnault Bettencourt, Jae Ji-Yeong, Mars Plutarch, etc.
- Street Elf first names include: Mosie, Beth, Luca, Zion,
Remi, Atlas, Mika, Theo, Zoe, Dante, Rhys, Giovanni, Ximena, etc.
- Undercity Elf names include: Kay, Jay, Ell, En, Que, Zed,
Seven, Nine, Deejay, Opie, Abbie, Ceedie, Effigy, etc.
